Re-Inform Recycling Bin
The purpose of this recycle bin is the “re-inform” the general public about benefits of recycling.
This design attracts people to recycle with a more visually dynamic container. It is constructed with recycled bicycle parts that are easy to identify as “re-used” parts. This also re-enforces the idea of “re-cycling by relating it to ”bicycling”. The container encourages user interaction with a rotating bicycle wheel that directs them to the appropriate material bin. As the wheel turns, so does the signage on it. The cyclical motion of the wheel and the form reinforce the national recycling branding symbol.
The container is slanted at an angle to differentiate it from other trash cans but also to bring water through the tube and vent it through the bottom. Built-in water filters and storage recycle water as well as paper, plastic, and aluminum. The access door in the back is for easy removal of material that has already been sorted in the four individual bins. The container can go anywhere in the city need to preserve our natural resources. The goal of this design is to motivate those people to recycle by providing more detailed information about the benefits of recycling, allowing them to see the material through the construction of the container and allowing them to interact with this idea physically.
Form follows function; the container turns the cycle to recycle.
